Pros and cons of Ottawa Citizen ePaper app for iPhone and iPad
Ottawa Citizen ePaper app good for
Prior to this app, reading the ePaper with a web browser was kludgy - at best. I found using this app to be superior to reading the printed paper. Navigation is simple and zooming in on articles or sections of a page is easy. I will be recommending the app to my friends.
I have just started to use the APP, I have found NO problems yet. Fast download of the paper ( a few seconds ) I have had the paper version for many years and have switch to E-Paper ( price difference ) I will however have to get used to the new way of reading the new version of the citizen.
Its a great app for reading the Ottawa Citizen on my iPad with 10-inch screen in landscape or portrait orientation. Unlike the Citizens other app, Ottawa Citizen for iPad, the ePaper is the full edition of the paper, including the important parts, such as comics and obits. There is no help file to assist in using the app but it took me all of half an hour of trial and error to figure out how it works. I already subscribe to the paper version of the Citizen so using this app is a no-brainer, especially for travelling.
Some bad moments
I too have been forced to delete and re-download the app twice to free up iPad memory. Now it is telling me I have to pay to get todays issue even though my credit card has been charged for the subscription. And it did the same thing last month.
I checked the requirements listed and I meet them, yet I am not even able to download on two of my iPads (only the most recent one is able to get the app)!
Lousy way of getting people hooked with the wrong subscription!
Im an Ottawa Citizen subscriber but still cant download the paper to my iPad without paying. This app clearly doesnt work! Let me know when it has been fixed.
There doesnt seem to be a way for me to log in as a print subscriber and access the tablet version of the Ottawa Citizen. I can log in on my lap top but not my ipad. Please correct this problem ASAP.
I was suspecting that the new app would force me to pay for a subscription and this is exactly what happened. Why is it that improved equates more money? Well, I wont pay for the privilege to read the paper, not that I wanted to read the paper. I just wanted some news about the city where I live. I can still do it through my library account & follow the Twitter account for "breaking news".
This does not work and the Ottawa Citizen is not responding. Even though I am a subscriber to the printed version, I cannot log in. I can use the web version. However; the iPad version is nothing by junk.
STAY AWAY FRPM THIS APP!
